Question marks always surround when to draft Vick. Well this year those questions may be getting answered by the NFL front offices instead of in expert mock drafts.
Vick has been ordered not to attend the start of any training camps in Atlanta, and Atlanta’s response has not exactly been on their star QB’s side, with comments starting to be thrown out like released, waived, time to say goodbye.
Vick is riduculously exciting to watch, as he runs with more mobility than a RB, and can throw on the run about as well as most QB’s standing still. His biggest issue has always been offenses that do not really play to his strengths, and a lack of talent at the receiver positions to get open for him when scrambling (or catch the ball for that matter when he does hit them on a broken play). Vick has many flaws with his throwing game, but it seems like he has never been given a fair shake to really see what he can accomplish on the field. Because of these issues, his game has been inconsistent and as maddening to the fantasy owner most seasons, as he is exciting on the weeks when he runs for 110 yards, 1 score and throws for 2 more. He is one of those players you know you don’t really want to draft, but at the same time can’t pass up the potential.
Weeeeeeell, that fair shake may never come now, and he may not deserve it if he did play a major role in the dog fighting events at his home. How can a pro athlete who can have everything, have a situation like this possible end his career. To the non pro athletes out there like myself we just shake our heads.
In the world of fantasy sports though, he has gone from the player you question drafting, to the player you outright avoid right now. A lot will have to change before the start of the season to make Vick look attractive on a fantasy roster. Those of you with him in keeper leagues, well, good luck because you are in a tough spot just outright dropping him. I wonder how Atlanta is feeling right now letting Shaub go in the offseason…
