When you sit down and watch the games each sunday, do you get that sick to your stomache feeling everytime you see a New England highlight flashing across the ticker? If you own Tom Brady, probably not, if you don’t own Mr. Brady then I expect you just did a little shudder.
Over the past few years there have been a few players who have shifted the balance of power in every league, and basically carried teams to the top of the standings. Marshall Faulk led to Priest Holmes who led to a LT/ LJ combination with a little Peyton on the side, but in 2008 welcome to the Tom Brady show.
With 27 touchdowns in only 7 weeks of play, he is currently re-writing the QB history books for the NFL. A quarterback on pace for 60 touchdowns is something special. In fantasy it is pure gold. For the past 5 years or more, Brady has been a very good NFL QB, but just an average fantasy QB. The only QB anyone normally reached for in a draft was Peyton Manning and even then it was only after all the best RB’s were gone. This year, unless you have an extremely restrictive QB point system, he should be easily leading your league fantasy point totals and I see no end in sight. Not bad for a QB probably taken in the 3-5th round of your draft. Get used to looking at the final standings on Tuesday morning and seeing The Brady-run team at the top. It doesn’t take much of a team around a guy who is throwing 3-6 touchdowns a game to win their weekly matchup. The laugh I get as I read my league message boards, is the teams who feel they made the best draft play ever taking Brady. Guess what, New Englnad trading for Randy Moss has made your season, don’t think otherwise. You drafted a player exactly where he was ranked, which was WAY too low.
For this season the Fantasy Stud title has been passed from a RB to a QB, welcome to the circle Tom Brady. Now for all you teams who managed to draft both Brady and Randy Moss……..
